Beautiful, laid back, Sunday mornings, long weekends, and vacations aren’t complete without golf. Do you know what golf is exactly? It is an outdoor game where you aim to hit a specific type of ball into a series of holes in the lowest amount of strokes. The golf round consists of 18 holes.

At each hole, there is a certain amount of strokes that you have to hit, and this is referred to as par. There is also an area called the tee from which you will begin your pursuit of each hole. The area around each hole includes a fairway, a rough sideway, and a smooth green space. Then you have the bunkers, and these are representative of obstacles such as sand traps, water, and other golf danger zones.

It is thought that golf hails from an ancient game known as “chole” which translates into English as “ball”. A great number of individuals give Scotland credit for the first game of golf. Most people do not realize that the sport “gowf” was also banned in the 15th century. Then in the 19th century, the modern game of golf was reborn in Scotland. It was later revised in the 20th century with different golf equipment and techniques introduced.

Golf has become part of the social fabric as a game for the elite and businessmen. Would you believe it if someone told you that some US business schools add golf to their management curriculum? This is really a game of social status.

Golf players spend a large amount of money just to get the latest equipment, the correct clothing, and to have access to the best golf courses. Even so, golf is an extremely popular game with over 32,000 courses scattered throughout the world.

During a round of golf, the players walk about the courses with their caddies. The caddie is the person who is in charge of caring for the player’s equipment. After a golf swing has been made by each person competing, the golfer whose ball is the farthest from the hole gets the chance to play again. Then the player or team that scores the most holes wins the game. The game of golf can be played by a team of four or by individuals.

There are several different types of shots a golfer can play during a game; shots like tee shots, fairway shots, bunker shots, putts, etc. The golf swing is one of the hardest parts of golf because of the coordination required to produce an effective one. Another term frequently heard in the golf community is “golf handicap”. This phrase refers to the score ability of different players, and the factor greatly affects the group ranking.

Recognition of the handicap allows players of different abilities to play against each other. It is said by some that the game of golf is played by etiquette instead of rules; still, there are actually a few rules. The basic rules are to play the ball where it lies and as you find it. If this is impossible to do, then you should do what is fair.

The game has also evolved in equipment and technique. Everything from golf balls, tees, and golf clubs has changed over time. Since golf’s humble beginnings, professional golf has even been started by British officers. Today, professional golf players take part in several golf tournaments like the U.S. Open and Ryder Cup.

Basics Of Golf And The Benefits You Can Gain From It

Another wonderful aspect of golf is the fact that it is played outdoors. People who play the game get fresh air on a regular basis. Today, with pollution being a huge problem in the world, the flora and fauna on these courses is always welcomed.
